“Ms. Solunksi? Are you okay? You left your door wide open.” Jack heard Lisa’s voice and turned to see only the ends of her long, blonde hair as she disappeared into their neighbor’s house.
“We don’t have time for this,” he muttered, following her into the house. It was sweltering inside. The little hairs on the back of his neck stood up and a chill ran down his arms. He moved through the house, peeking into rooms looking for any sign of Lisa or Ms. Solunski but finding only dust-covered furniture. Standing in the middle of the living room, Jack heard Lisa gasp as an icy wind suddenly whipped through the house. All the window shutters slammed closed.
